The Clean Fuels Incentive Program (CFIP), administered by the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA), provides grants to fleets for the retrofit or purchase of new AFVs. Grant award amounts vary and may cover up to 100% of the incremental AFV cost. Grants are available in amounts of $5,000 for Class 1-2 EVs, $80,000 for Class 3-7 EVs, and $150,000 for Class 8 EVs.

Maryland Energy Administration provides grants to local governments through its Maryland Smart Energy Communities program for transportation related projects. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) offers incentives to cover the incremental cost of replacing diesel vehicles with all-electric vehicles. Eligible vehicles include shuttle buses, school buses, garbage trucks, and transit buses. Privately-owned school buses under contract with a public-school district are also eligible. Priority will be given to projects in overburdened communities.

Any public school district or charter school may receive a grant through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to pay for the incremental costs to replace school buses or install diesel oxidation catalysts, diesel particulate filters, emission-reducing add-on equipment, and other emissions reduction technologies in qualified school buses.

The Utah Department of Environmental Quality provides a tax credit for organizations for the purchase of a qualified alternative fuel heavy-duty vehicles as long as 50% of the qualified vehicle's miles are driven within Utah. Taxpayeres are limited to 10 AFVs annually but can claim credits for an additional 8 if more than 30% of the total available tax credits aren't claimed by May 1st of that year.

The Utah Conversion to Alternate Fuel Grant Program provides grants to businesses and government entities that purchase clean vehicles or install conversion equipment on eligible vehicles that allows the vehicles to operate on alternative fuel or reduces a vehicle’s emissions of regulated pollutants. Award recipients are required to pass these savings along to the individual who purchases the converted vehicle. Grants may cover 100% of the cost of purchasing a clean vehicle or 50% of the cost of conversion, up to $2,500. Eligible clean vehicles must operate solely on alternative fuel and include light- and heavy-duty vehicles and off-road equipment.

Vermont Agency of Transportation offers low- and mid-income residents rebates off the purchase of a new EV or plug-in hybrid. Vehicles must have a base MSRP of $52,500 or less.

State: Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) Electrify Your Fleet Program - Commercial

Vermont Agency of Tranportation offers organizations rebates to electrify their fleets with the purchase of EV or PHEVs. New EVs or PHEVs must have a base MSRP of less than $60,000 and a minimum range of 20 miles. Non-profit mobility services may get an enhanced incentive if the purchase or leased vehicle has an MSRP of $55,000 or less. Applicants may receive up to 20 rebates each.

Utilities: Burlington Electric Department (BED) EV Rebate - Residential

Up to $2,300

BED provides low- or no-interest loans for the purchase of a new EV. Eligible customers can also apply for a rebate of $2,300 towards the purchase of a new all-electric vehicle (EV) or $2,000 towards the purchase of a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). An additional $700 is available for moderate income customers buying an EV or $300 for a PHEV. may also apply for a rebate of $1,300 rebate for the purchase of a pre-owned EV or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), with an additional $200 available for moderate income customers. Eligible vehicles must have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price less than or equal to $60,000.

Utilities: Stowe Electric EV Rebate - Residential

Up to $1,000

Stowe Electric offers customers rebates for the purchase or lease of EVs. New plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) are eligible for $750 while all-electric vehicles are eligible for a $1,000 rebate, and income-qualifying customers are eligible for an additional $250 rebate for either vehicle. Stowe Electric also offers a $300 rebate for the purchase of pre-owned EVs and PHEVs.

Utilities: Vermont Electric Co-op (VEC) EV Credit - Residential

Up to $500

VEC offers a $250 bill credit to members who purchase a new or pre-owned plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and a $500 bill credit to members who purchase a new or pre-owned all-electric vehicle (EV). Members who lease a PHEV are eligible for an annual bill credit of $50 for each year of the lease, and members who lease an EV are eligible for an annual bill credit of $100 for each year of the lease.

Utilities: Vermont Public Power Supply Authority (VPPSA) EV Rebate

Up to $1,000

Vermont Public Power Supply Authority (VPPSA) member customers are eligible for rebates of up to $1,000 on the purchase of a new all-electric vehicle (EV), and up to $500 on the purchase of a new plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). VPPSA also offers rebates of $500 for the purchase of a pre-owned EV and $250 for the purchase of a pre-owned PHEV. Low-income customers may receive an additional $400 rebate for a new EV or PHEV.

State: Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals, and Energy CMAQ Vehicle Fuel Conversion Incentive Program - Government

Up to $10,000

The Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy, in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Transportation, offers up to $10,000 to state agencies and local governments for the incremental cost of new or converted AFVs.

State: Washington State Department of Revenue (DOR) Commercial Alternative Fuel Vehicle Infrastructure Tax Credit - Commercial

Businesses are eligible to receive tax credits for purchasing new or used medium- and heavy-duty AFVs and medium- and heavy-duty vehicles converted to alternative fuels, and installing alternative fueling infrastructure. Eligible alternative fuels include electricity. Tax credits for qualified alternative fueling infrastructure are for up to 50% of the cost to purchase and install the infrastructure.

Washington State Department of Transportation offers grants to transportation authorities ti electrify fleets. Transit authorities must provide matching funding of at least 20% of the total cost of the project.

State: City of Seattle's Electric Trucks Pilot Program - Commercial

Up to $180,000 per truck

The City of Seattle is providing $1.7 million in point-of-sale rebates for electric trucks operating in the Duwamish Valley (southern Seattle communities). The program provides 40% up to $180,000, per new Electric Class 8 truck purchased that operates within the Valley.

Utilities: Clark Public Utilites (CPU) Used EV Rebate - Residential

Up to $2,000

CPU offers low-income residential customers a rebate of up to $2,000 for the purchase of a used EV. EVs purchase price may not exceed $20,000 and must be registered in Clark County.

State: Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA) Heavy-Duty Transit Bus Grants - Government

The Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA) offers grants for the replacement of eligible public transit buses. Funding is available for the replacement and scrapping of model year 1992-2009 heavy-duty public transit buses with new replacement diesel or alternative fueled buses.
